About Shields CPA

Meet Nathan

I graduated with a Master’s in Accounting in 2008 and have been a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) since December 2009. My journey in tax preparation began in 2006, working alongside my dad during my undergraduate studies. While completing my Master’s, I gained valuable experience at a local CPA firm, where I continued to work for many years.

Throughout my career, I have collaborated with various industries, including agriculture, retail, and professional services. After nine years at the local CPA firm, I transitioned to roles as a controller and CFO, where I spent about eight years. In the summer of 2024, I returned to public accounting full time.

My extensive experience as a controller and CFO provides me with a unique perspective that sets me apart from CPAs who haven’t worked in private industry.
